Hello and welcome to my website.
As a painter and sculptor living in Maine, my source for inspiration is the coastal landscape, I wander and sketch looking to surprise myself with interesting compositions. I especially like where the water, land and sky meet. The effect of light in Maine is really wonderful, how it can illuminate a scene or bring emotional intensity to the subject. The feeling I get when I see the pilings of an old wharf lit up by the afternoon sun or the curves of a well used fishing boat, and the echo of how people lived and worked in their enviroment I try to instill into my work.
In sculpture I work in carved wood, usually finished in gold or palladium leaf. These works are somewhat more abstract and I try to simplify down the idea of a subject, like a whale or eagle or even the sun setting on the water.
I hope you enjoy!
